The most perplexing thing about the story of abortion in America, is to understand
how otherwise conscientious, good-hearted people can be so blind to the horror-show
that is abortion. Within every pregnant woman is a human child; small, completely
dependant upon his or her mother, but filled at the moment of conceptions with the
spirit of life.
People instinctively know this to be true, even while proponents argue that the
child is not a child at all, but is only a tissue mass; foreign to the mother's
body. They have reclassified the child as a health concern; a disease that can and
should be treated.
I have seen more than enough images of the aftermath, and I know that most people
have no desire to see such things. The sad fact is; however, that until people see
something with their own eyes, many things do not become real. This was true during
the Second World War. Many did not see good reason to stand up to Adolph Hitler
with our blood and treasure until they saw photographs of living skeletons, and
piles upon piles of rotting corpses. They were people, Jews who were mothers and
fathers, grandparents, and children.
Then those same conscientious, good-hearted people wondered how such evil could have
gone on so long. There was no question for most, that intervention was not only
required, but had come far too late.
I wish people would look at the images I have seen; human children, lying on stainless
steel trays. They come in a variety of sizes, but all are recognizable as human
babies. Some have their torn limbs laid in approximate position, so the abortionist
can tell if he has extracted all of the tissues from the uterus. There are faces
to these children, eyes open but staring blankly, the life extinguished during the
surgical procedure.
So I have come to believe that herein lies the great divide. Those who have seen
the results of these health-care procedures, and those who have not. Many who do
not oppose abortion on religious grounds, but who have seen behind the veil have also
come to realize that this barbaric activity must come to an end.
It is beyond and above the subject of hardships that unplanned or unwanted pregnancy
can mean for women (and men). These are issues that are not in any way unimportant, but
they are issues that must be addressed from an arsenal of solutions that do not include
the practice of shredding tiny children to pieces with surgical instruments.

plan I have been considering, and how you might be able to participate in filling
the need. You can help bridge the great divide so that good, conscientious
people will stand up to the practice and public policy of abortion.
